Short Tameside Walk- Landslow Green, Coach Road Circular
This is a short Tameside walk along lanes, tracks and over fields taking in the countryside of the Mottram and Hollingworth areas. Starting at the junction of Hobson Moor Road and Dewsnap Lane, go down Dewsnap Lane. Pass a number of houses on the right before the turn off for Lumb Farm on the left and Rabbit Lane on the right.
Keep on the main track passing Hardtimes Farm on the right. Soon Landslow Green is reached, where a right turn over the stile continues this short Tameside walk. Cross another stile at the end of the enclosed track and carry on down the field to a kissing gate. The short walk downhill reaches Thorncliffe Farm.
Go through the farm and take the left bend passing Thorncliffe Hall, school playing fields on the right and more housing on the left. At the bottom of the Lane turn right passing a small cemetery and Longdendale Community College. Pass between houses and proceed on this short Tameside walk past the apartments at Albion Mill.
Turn right at the Coach Road, passing Nettle Hall Farm, the last building on the left. The Coach Road, which becomes a narrow track, continues past Mottram Old Hall and bears left at Ivy Dean. At this bend, carry on through the kissing gate ahead, across a field heading for the stile in the middle. Keep left on the next field and continue on a narrow path to reach Dewsnap Farm House and Old Road, Mottram. Turn right here and right again at the signpost, up between houses. This narrows to a path which finishes on Hobson Moor Road. Turn right here and uphill back to the starting point.
This short Tameside walk is 2.9 miles and takes just over an hour. Full mapping and route finding details are available in Walks In Tameside – Southern Tameside.
